Default Cat-Back Recommendations

I'm shopping around for a cat-back system for a '98 T/A that has nothing more than a lid and filter to make more power and a bit more noise over stock, but run quieter than the the SLP Loud Mouth system. I guess I'm looking for that happy middle ground in performance and sound. (If there is such a thing with these).
Thanks.

Magnaflow is the best bang for the buck and not too loud. They are also stainless steel so they are going to last a very long time. We are offering free shipping on them right now too

Just get a Magnaflow muffler to weld into your existing piping. Then get headers and y pipe to meet that piping. Put a cutout, and BAM! You just saved yourself from wasting WAY too much money on a catback that does nothing special.

from quietest to loudest: Hooker, Magnaflow, Corsa, LM2 are all reasonably tame on stock manifolds / cats.

i am in the exact same position as you, i have been looking and it sounds like magnaflow is the best bang for the buck. marylandspeed.com has a special right now 385 on the single 3.5" barrel tips and free shipping, it says 450 something but when you add it to the cart it comes down. that is what i am planning on getting. i like that it is kinda quiet now cuz when i add lt's and y pipe it will sound awesome.

here is a thread i started on it and got nothing but positive reviews: https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...675&highlight=

I researched this forever and ended up getting teh Hooker cat-back. Sounds almost stock at idle (I also have lt's and y-pipe) but sounds great at WOT. All my friends like the sound of it. Plus I believe it is one of the best flowing cat-backs, and one of the cheapest.

For your application, I'd strongly recommend Corsa. Corsa is no doubt the best engineered catback out there for daily driving for the average person. It's very tame under normal acceleration, absolutely SILENT at cruising and screams at WOT. It's the ultimate triple threat. Yes, it's pricey, but you get what you pay for. It's stainless steel, has a lifetime warranty and has the best looking tips in the industry. It's also one of the best flowing catbacks. I've regularly seen dyno proof of an open cutout netting 2 rwhp over Corsa, making it probably in the top 3 best flowing catbacks out there. I'm almost positive it would outflow a Magnaflow since Oxidizr himself said the Magnaflow catback is restrictive over 400 rwhp, which is why they were designing a race system (not sure what happened to that development).

There's a sound clip in my sig if you want to hear what it sounds like with stock manifolds and cats (before my LT's).

I initially had a Magnaflow cat-back and recently purchased the B&B system....no regrets.

Well said man I have Corsa with pacesetter LTs, and ORY and i just installed the pacesetters last week. I couldnt tell you how big and wide the grin on my face was when i took her down the street. I was still so suprised at how not loud it was at idle but pull them rpms up and damnnnnn it sounded good.
