4 me, mine is a daily driver. I went with lid, pacesetter LT, high flow cats, with magnaflow cat back. I wanted to keep gas mileage. Unless you are going to go with 3.73's or 4.10' on an A4 then gas mileage shouldn't be your issue. I still get 29 MPG on the highway with 2.73's.

go with gears....this was my favorite mod so far. I have an A4 and went with some 3.23's. Don't regret it at all. For daily driving it is a great gear. 3.73 would have been too much for me

Lids are dirt cheap I'd probably start there
50-90$ and .5 hour install to boot
Biggest performance upgrade right off the bat for an A4 is gonna be a 3200-4000RPM Converter with a tranny cooler.
should be gould for .4-.6 off your current ETs
For a M6 a set of 4.10 rear gears will have knock .3-.5 off your times and make the car alot more fun to drive
Either way your gonna want some drag radials to get anything out of the car
Just my .02 cents

lid first
then gears and headers, just make a weekend of it
and if you can then get a tune!
it wont hurt if you dont but its always gonna help more if you can tune w/ new mods

It would just depend on your budget really from there. Depending on what size gears you go with, you will see similair gains in performance as adding a set of headers. You can do a lid and gear swap for less than a set of headers, but of course if you have the money do all three!
After you do the gears you will need to reset your speedo, and a tune will help you get the best out of your headers...just a few things to keep in mind when making your decision. Like I said, it all depends on your budget, because as we all know there is usually an unexpected expense that comes up when you mod.

I have 323 gears and and A4 and highway drive a lot and wouldn't consider going over 342's since I do lots of road trips. I have been in m6 cars with 410's and they still tach lower than my 323's. I wouldn't invest much in a 10 bolt for our cars anyway. Just my .02
