Re: Wahoo!!! LS6 Intake Manifold EGR also helps to heat the air on cold start-ups to help atomize the fuel. I had a POS car that the EGR system was rusted, so I just pluged all the lines. The car did crank out more power, but in cold weather it was hard to idle without doing it at 1000rpm. btw, this was a 4-cyl. compact car. I have a 2001 without EGR, but at the same time my cam is smaller to reduce emissions

In my attempt to become more mechanically incliended, I was reading, "LS1/LS6 Performance" by, Chris Enders and found out that I, and all 2001 and 2002 LS1's (F-body or C5) have LS6 intake manifolds. Anyway, thought I would share, the book has some good stuff that is tried and proven, so you can learn from others mistakes.

97-03 corvettes=no egr
98-00 f-bods=egr
01-02 f-bods=no egr
97-99 corvettes=LS1 intake
00-03 corvettes=LS6 intake
98-00 f-bods=LS1 intake
01-02 f-bods=LS6 intake
LS1 intake as an inward hump on the bottom of it
LS6 intake is flat across the bottom
note:if you buy an LS6 intake off of a vette you will need to get new throttle cable bracket fittings or remove your old ones from your ls1 intake. i used a propane torch
as i didn't have time to mess around.
EGR=Exhaust Gas Reciculation-causes expelled gases to return to the intake in order to burn out the excess carbons?
AIR is the thing that helps with cold start ups though i think. i may be wrong about all of this though. it's what i think though.

do u have to worry at all when u switch the ls1 manfiolds with the ls6 if u take the EGR off?
Re: Wahoo!!! LS6 Intake Manifold I have an '01 Z28 that was built in January or February of '01, and it has the LS6 intake. When it was in the shop for the H/C setup, I made it a point to look at the intake, and it's flat across the bottom (read: larger plenum volume).

No EGR=LS6
No EGR=LS6
There are vette EGR less intakes floating around out there. I bought one because it didn't have the EGR thinking it was an LS6 intake. I was lucky a friend thought the base didn't look flat enough. He checked the part number and it was an LS1 EGR less intake from a vette. Cost me $350 to learn this the hard way.
All 01-02 F-Bodies come wtih the LS6 intake no egr
ALL 98-00 F-Bodies have the LS1 intake w/egr
Vettes do not have EGR 97 & up. 97-99 & maybe 2000 vettes have LS1 intake without EGR. In case 01 & up vette intakes are LS6.
If buying and intake CHECK the part numbers to be sure!!!
