cam help please
cam help please Hey guys just had a few questions about this setup and price.
I have a 00 TA with 64K. Full suspension, lid, borla catback.
Pacesetter Longtube headers
Pacesetter off-road connection pipes
S cam- 238/240 on a 112 LSA 605/609 lift
Comp Cams *NEW* .650 lift 918 valve springs
Comp Cam 7.400 pushrods
NGK TR6 Spark Plugs
160* thermostat
Mobil 1 oil change
Price: 2076.12
1 day turn around time, installation and tuning included.
My questons are:
1. For the price is that a good deal, and if not what should I be looking at paying?
2. Next, I hear that the stock lifters and rockers should be more then suitable for my needs. Also, I was thinking of keeping the stock timing chain instead of going double roller. Is that a good idea, or do I need to replace it?
3. I really want a safe setup that I won't have to be worried about problems or driveablility issues...With this package on a mostly stock vehicle, will my car be safe? I plan on going Fast 90 this summer when my friend sells his to me.

That is the price for parts, installation, AND tuning!!??!! Is HPE doing it for you out there in Texas? Thats a helluva good deal man! Just make sure your ready for a big cam...that S-cam is strong!
I also agree you need to add in a ported LS6 oil pump and LS2 timing chain. Also, why are you going with colder plugs on a NA set-up?

+1 on ls2 timing chain & ls6 ported oil pump....hurry up and get that fast intake so you can up the hp 
if your car is an a4, get a stall!! if it is a m6 try upgrading the flywheel to aluminum and a stronger clutch......possibly check out some gears in the back to help the accel.....that is a strong set up man!

I am always a little hesitant to post on here since (no offense) a lot of the people are idiots and live to get on ls1tech to flame people and try to show how much more they know about cars. But then again thats just my opinion. Anyway, thanks for the useful info. I will most likely end up going with a double roller timing chain. The only reason I'm even thinking of doing the cam now before getting the intake, etc, is because of what a good deal I've heard it is.
As far as clutch is concerned, it has a fresh ls7 in it, and already has an aluminum flywheel. I like the stock gears because I do a lot of freeway driving and I'm a big fan of the low rpm sixth gear.
Also, time for my newb question, what do you mean by why am I going with colder plugs? Can someone please explain that to me?

the stock intake will be fine for now...but with that duration of the cam you arn't going to get near the potential you can with a better intake....but stock for now is good for ya...if you have the money, then go ahead and upgrade the lifters, a lot of ppl i see keep it stock even if they are pushing 420+ at the wheels
the ngk tr6 plugs are usually for nitrous or blower set-ups, n/a set-ups usually run ngk tr55(or whatever they are called) plugs

Ya I am looking for a decent sized cam with a slower idle/rumble. I was thinking of going with HPE's S+ or S2 cam, but I think that might be too much...Also, what is the reasoning that the stock oil pump won't suffice? just curious.
chuck at hpe said I should be fine with the stock rockers for sure. Also, most likely the stock timing chain and lifters should be alright. Lastly, he told me that as long as I would be running cam only with full bolt ons, I shouldn't need to go with a ported oil pump. What do you guys think? O and I've decided to go S cam I think. I have an appointment for Friday I just want to get some last things squared away.
