typical to find oil in our intake thanks to a shitty designed pcv system you either either upgrade to an ls6 pcv system or run a catch can

get the code scanned though, it could be a ring, but its normal for the ls1's to get oil in the intake and use some oil also

Take the pcv sytem complety off and cap everything .Get a breather to replace the oil cap and that will solve that problem.

Al Gore and the green weenies won't like it. You'll be venting crankcase gasses to the atmosphere contributing to the extinction of mankind. You will single-handedly cause the polar caps to thaw, causing the sea level to rise 12 feet and destroying beach front property everywhere, changing the climate and destroying crops, leading to catastrophic world hunger.

seriously tho, my '01 LS1 SS uses about 1 1/2qts of oil every 1500 miles. Piston slap, w/e. My cousin is a Chey mechanic and he said it is normal.

Most people put a catch can on the pcv hose and don't realize a lot of their oil consumption problem is from oil being blown out of the breather hose into the TB. If you have oil in the TB or in front of it you need to either put a catch can on the breather hose or get rid of it. The breather hose goes from the pass side valve cover to the TB. Under load the pcv does nothing and the breather hose will blow crankcase vapor/oil. At idle air comes in through the breather hose, into the crankcase, through the pcv and into the intake.

You would know by the cloud of smoke coming from your tailpipe if it was a ring letting go..

so if i delete my pcv do i just cap off the tube comming from the valve cover to the pcv valve and the small tube going from the throttle body to the valve cover and put a breather on the oil fill cap?
