Default magnaflow race series?

hey guys wondering if anyone has ever used the 4inch round magnaflow race series mufflers 2 1/2 in and out? thinking about using them on the tsp true duals x-pipe going from 3 inch to a 2 1/2 reducer to the mufflers, wondering how loud they are gonna be. if anyone has any clips please post. also for all of you who ask why dont i go with a 3 race series muffler, is because they only make 3.5inch and 2.5inch. they do make a normal universal 6 round muffler 3inch, that is gonna be alot quieter then race series.

I just have the regular bullet magnaflows #14419 3" in/out. I went from ORY/ LM1 to true duals with two of them. The car is whole lot quieter at idle and cruising without all the rasp and drone, but when you put the hammer down it still sounds like the world is coming to an end. I don't have any way of recording it for you or I would cause I'm definately proud of the way it sounds.

I had Bullets with straight pipes before. It was a lot more quiet at first. It still is but the muffler "broke" in a little and got louder. I love the tone.

This is a crappy clip, I need to get another one when the weather gets nicer.

The two mufflers I have will give you this. I can cruise at 80mph and hardly even hear the exhaust even though it is dumped before the axle. I'll see if I can find someone with a camera or something so I can upload a recording.

When I put it on YouTube it got all messed up. It's a Mufflex exhaust with a 3.5" Magnaflow Race Series muffler. It has a very deep tone, nothing like Bullets. It sounds sick when you get on it too. To me, inside the car, it sound similar to a Vette.

Grifter,

You running stock manifolds or what? I will be starting to mod my 99 Z28 in a bout 2 months and was considering going with one of the Magnaflow Race Muffs in the 5x8x6" 3"in/out. For a while it will just be a single 3" all the way back from the cats, LT's will come much later. I want it loud, but not annoying like the LM1, although I like it on my truck, but I might even switch to the magna race on my truck too.

last time I checked they did. It is listed in their new products page on their website. I think the part number was 14149.

Yup, just checked. Their search function is not working completely, they have not updated their race series page, but they just recently started offering these in the 3" and 2.5" in/out sizes. They show 125 available right now.

Here's a link
http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...ainall&id=1436

I was originally going to put this on my truck, but up until about a month ago, these were still on backorder. I was talking to a Magnaflow Tech a few weeks ago and she let me know these were know ready.

I have Grot 1-7/8 LT's, 3" ORY and a 3.5" catback into the Magnaflow muffler. I had my whole setup on the YouTube video, but you can't even read it.

I have a single in/out 4" race muffler. It sounds great...it's somewhat loud when you get on it. I can send you a video if you'd like

Yeah, sorry. I thought you were looking for the oval. As far as ground clearance, the round ones are 6" OD. and the ovals are 5" deep, so they are 1" shallower, my only question would be would you have enough room to mount the oval one in the same position that you could the round. The ovals are 8" wide so you would need a little more than 8" clear to mount the muffler. My Z28 is being stored right now at my parents house until after the wedding, so I can't work those issues out just yet, but I would think there should be enough room.

Lemme check some of my old correspondance from magnaflow cause I even want to say that they were working on the round ones in the 3" size also.

Edit: RJK, check out part number 14159. This is a magnaflow race series 6" round 6" long Body and 12" total lenght including inlet and outlet extensions. Magnaflow show 137 available.

well here is the thing, i have no problem putting a reducer going from 3inch to 2.5inch because my car is mostly stock except for a nice decent size cam. so im kinda thinkin im gonna want some back pressure to help get the car moving a little bit more. i dont think going with the 2.5inch mufflers is really gonna kill all that much hp if any at all.
