H/C worth it?
I did H/C at a little over 90,000 - 91,000 miles... I changed my oil every 1500 miles or less , using 5w 30 synthetic.. I bought the car at 56,000 miles, when it was bone stock..
during that period til 90,xxx miles I did every bolton, full intake, exhaust, suspension, brake pads, etc... I made 364rwhp bolton only (number seems too high IMO) and made 432rwhp with 5.3 heads and a Tv3 cam when I was right at high 90,xxx miles ... My goal was to run this H/C for another 12k-20k miles and then get a brand new motor 418 L92 or 427
My car only ran for a day, now my reluctor wheel must be changed...
since I need to tear apart the whole bottom end. I decided to just go ahead with the new motor now... since Texas speed will take 6 weeks to get me the 418 I want. I just went with a 402 and since I just dumped thousands in my H/C LS1, all I can afford now is a 402 or rebuilding my 346, since I can still use my 5.3s and cam, I went with a 402...
Why am I saying all this?
because nothing went accordingly planned. I didnt enjoy my H/C car and me getting a new engine came way too fast, and not planned... and since I cant afford more. I cant go with my dream 418 or 427 engine I wanted..
So all of this said.. If you have the patience, just get a brand new engine of your dreams and save up, in case the small chance you go H/C and this happens to you
chances are, it wont... So then I say. Go for it...
