Default H/C worth it?

My camaro has 77k on the clock and I was wondering if the engine wouldbe worth putting Heads and Cam on? Would it be worth while waiting till I get more miles (like 100k-120k) and get a 383 stroker and supporting parts? Looking for BEST BANG FOR MY $. Current mods: qtp LT's and ypipe, GMMG axel back, ls6 valley cover, elctric water pump, double adjs CA, weld on anti squat brakets, double adjs PHB, pro 5.0, ls7 clutch.

Thanks

+1 get the h/c set-up man, and when it is time to rebuild, build something to match well with your h/c set-up

you could go ahead and throw a set of heads and a cam in this motor, then just switch them to the new block when you get it, but u have to think about this....choosing heads and a cam for a 346 is different than choosing heads and cam for a 383+ motor. You will most likely have higher compression and a stronger bottom end on the bigger motor, therefore limiting/expanding your range of options.

I cammed my car with 105k miles. Albeit a mild one (224/226 .58x/.605) but regardless, just take care of it and you'll be good IMO.

I think you should go ahead and pull the trigger on the heads and cam. As long as your not overly hard on the car, it should be just fine. That being said, if you're going with a monster cam, be sure to get the required supporting parts (springs, rods, etc.).

Im am with everyone on this. Go with a nice h/c setup right now. There are many who do h/c swaps with as many or more miles than your car. I wouldnt touch the bottom end until you have to. As long as you install everything correctly, buy all the supporting mods, and have a correct tune you will be fine. Enjoy!!!!

Thanks guys. I have heard a lot about AFR heads (205's). but those are a little more then 2grand. Do you guys think that these are best product out? or is there sumthing that isnt so advertised but equally capable? With the cam im guessing a custom ground cam would be a good choice? Not really to sure. HP wise im lookin 2 put 420 to the wheels. Is that an exagerated #.

I dont think that # is exagerrated at all. There was someone on this board with Terminator heads, I believe a MS3 cam, and a good tune putting down close to 500 RWHP. I cant remember his screen name but he posted his dyno sheet to prove it. Hope this helps.

When I did my H/C swap I had 75,0000 on the odo. I made some decent numbers I think there right in the ballpark of what you want to make. H/C is well worth the price and It made my car so much more fun to drive.

Theres a reason they are called the Terminator heads. Thats his name on here and he put down 499rwhp NA if I remember correctly.

Hey allThrottle you live in Nevada but got your car tuned in Fremont California. Ive heard good things about Rick at Synergy. How was youre experience. I only live across the bay from him so that would be great.

I like Synergy alot, Im a Synergy nut swinger. I would recommend taking your car there to anyone. Thats just my opinion. Rick is the ninja master as I like to call him, when it comes to tuning. Since your not to far away from him I would say definetly take your car to him.

Well I finally got H/C put in my car. Man its a whole different car! LoL I ALMOST dont like to speed anymore just siitin at a stop light and listen to the rumble. Car was on a DynoJet and put 408/367 SAE. All the work was done at Advanced Dyno. Couldnt ask for better customer service. Very happy with the work done.
