Default SLP Underdrive Pulley install???

I am planning on buying a SLP UD Pulley. Besides new belts and bolt, what do I need to install it? What exact bolt do I need, since you can't re-use the stocker? How hard is it to install and how long should it take?

mine was a bit of a pain to get on and we ended up sanding down a bit of the inside of the pulley to get it to fit right.... yes it is on the crank really tight...

Invest in the pulley install tool sold on this site by a member (618HAWK). Mine slid right on with no problems. Tool is sold for around $40 shipped. I got a new stock bolt. Use your old one to seat the pulley and torque it to specs. Then remove it and install new one. There are alot if posts here on this site telling you how to do it.

I did mine on a lift and it was a PITA. When we used the stock bolt to seat it we couldnt get it back out again. We were very carfull so I dont think we stripped it but I will definatley find out when its time for a cam! I havent had any problems at all with it and theres probably 20k on it. Good luck!

The posts about hurting the crankshaft threads made me get the install tool like kicksZ28 said. It worked great. I put anti-size on the crank snout to help it slide on. I also got the ARP pulley bolt to be safe, it's around $25 but it's stronger than the stock one and reusable.

I've always just put the pulley in the oven for a little while to make it nice and hot so it slides on much easier. It makes the whole house smell good too

PITA to remove stock bolt on jack stands, even with breaker bar. I just took my ASP Pully w/ new belt and bolt to friends shop. On lift with large impact took 5 minutes, hardest part was getting new belt on. Installed 5 years now without a problem. Make sure you get it all the way on. Some one at local car show said he threw his pulley off while driving.
