Removing A/C belt

Removing A/C belt
So i was wondering if anyone has ever done this at the track or on the dyno and seen any benifits from it at all. I dont figure it puts much drag on the motor but was just wondering.

belt
heres my 2 cents
between november - march i remove the belt for my a/c compressor / you can obviously FEEL the difference in the car when the clutch engages
( i choose to remove the belt to keep the bearings and clutch lasting longer )
in the summer months when i go to the drags - i simply unplug both the ac compressor and the alternator to keep the drag down without spending any time compared to taking off the a/c belt and running a "short" belt for no alternator
does it make a difference - ABSOULUTELY

Don't think so, it's not alot more different then the belt going around a idler. Even if it did make as much as 6.5hp you wouldn't feel it. Get about the same effect at the track as taking a big dump before you race.

It will help ya out probably a tenth or close. I improved a few tenths at the track after changin the plugs and pullin the AC belt off my car. from 12.0's to 11.7's. Most of the improvement I credit to the plugs though for sure since they were in need of changing pretty bad. But nonetheless taking your AC belt off is a very easy and quick process.

Ya, I just did this today, not so much for the extra power (if any), but better gas mielage. It would be interesting to find out (back to back dyno pulls) if there is a difference.

you want to take as much "load" off your car as you can. lol
i guess every bit ends up adding something; weather or not it is worth it depends on the person, like some of the free mods (TB bypass), or taking out your spare tire. I mean if you only drag race you don't need it; but nothing would suck more then being on highway "east-joe-bumble-****" in east joe-bumble-**** with a flat and no way to get anywhere, you know?
anyway; my car is black and when it is like 900* outside the t-tops do dick (hot air blowing on you at 80mph just makes you hotter), i like A/C on those days! lol
