You have 3 budget heads and a premium head. They are all gonna work great with a streetable cam. If you wanna pop the money, go for the AFR's. As for the other 3, they are all good heads for the price. Call each of them and buy from who you get the best vibe from.

****, I voted for AFR, but if you are on a budget, you may want to ignore that one. If you can afford them, they are worth the money though. If not, the ported Patriot LS6 heads are a good option.

AFR's if you can afford them. My next choice for less money would be Darts.

If I had to do it, I'd go with AFR's, but I feel it's important to do it right the first time. When you do it with one of the best, you'll never have a reason to redo it.

i figure 205cc is ideal for a stock ls1 motor and anything over 220 is over kill. i want something that will give great low end torque and high horse power. of course afr's are a great choice but with a $2300 price and the others from $1100-$1400 for maybe 10hp less it's an easy choice. like them all, leaning towards livernois stg2 and with there smaller runners at 220cc i fell they give me that low end. but i'm still open if you guys got more info and experience. like to hear about prc ls6 heads and what size runners they are.

the tsp ls6 ones are something like 227cc's and so are the patriots. The tsp 5.3 heads are 220cc's though and flow just as good as their ls6 heads plus they are cheaper and have a smaller combustion chamber which will raise your compression slightly without affecting your piston to valve clearance. I personally just bought some livernois ls6 heads because their flow numbers at low lifts were better then most of the other ported stockers i was looking at and they were on sale at the time, they also come with better springs then the other heads. Their new dual ones they use come rated up to .690 inches of lift and they told me they have actually used them with cams that have over .700 inches of lift.

Our bench is known to be somewhat conservative compared to others and we would rather underrate our heads slighlty than claim they flow better than they really do.

Please see the following thread titled "how many people on here have actually had their heads flowbenched? ": Click here

Particularly this post by cdubbzz:

My Livernois Stage III 243's flowed =/better than advertised

lift....in/exh
.200 138 111.2
.300 212 144.1
.400 262 184.2
.500 306.6 202.6
.600 330.2 217.7
.650 325 don't have exhaust

+1 for Patriot. They hooked me right up and the car feels great. The numbers and dyno should be in this summer.

I was in the same boat not too long ago. I called around to many places and got a lot of good info. I searched many threads on this site and a few others. I finally spoke to Richard at west coast racing heads. He si a sponsor on here and decided to use him because He actually took time in the middle of the day on out 1st coversation and went through my set up. i was on a budget so he convinced me to port my stock 98 heads (806 castings). He did a great job and flowed better than the afr 205's as promised. These heads are bad *** and look bone stock. I would give him a call.

Default Heads

Easily for the money. The TSP PRC 2.5 Stage 5.3 Heads were the ones I went with and after 8 months on the car, I still love them. I actually still get a grin when rolling high first gear and lose the tires at the top of the gear also, losing them off the line. Flowed better numbers than a AFR or TrickFlow either for the money. I can always lose 10lbs to make up for the HP!

All of the heads you have listed when matched with a good street cam should do well. I figured I would throw another budget head into the mix.

I Love my TEA 5.3 Stage 1.5 heads. You can compare some of their higher staged head flowrates against some of the others.

My Stage 1.5 heads flowed:

lift....in/exh
.200 137.7 120.9
.300 211.0 183.8
.400 265.1 223.2
.500 300.0 250.1
.600 316.3 260.9

Most of the budget heads should flow well when compared to out of the box AFR, Trickflows, etc. IMO when you start making modifications to them is where they will really start to shine over the budget heads... hence their higher pricing.

I agree with this. I am saving up right now for the heads that I really want cause somewhere down the line I don't want to have to change them. AFR 205's is what i'm getting with a little modification.
