Guys - Thanks for all the good words about the car. Anyone who wants to see what I've gone through development-wise needs to log in on www.hybridz.com. Look at the "album" for "phantom" and also do a 'search' on the Chevy engine forum using "LS1 / T56 Update" for your search words. It doesn't have everything on it but gives a good history on the development.
No 1/4 mile times on the car yet. Gearing is such that I'll be looking for 5th between 115-120 mph and my T56 has lost the synchros gong into 5th & 6th. I also am running some crap 225/50-16 S306 Yokohamas that don't hook up very well. Car goes back in the shop for header, exhaust, transmission and AC warranty work in a week or two and will be out of service for about a month to get that done. After that I'm headed for the track down at Ennis to see what I can do. I need to find some good drag radials no more than 9" wide or some very sticky street tires to give it a good test. The LS1 is totally overwhelming in 1st with a 3.70:1 LSD.

I'm in Arlington. Haven't tried slicks or drag radials yet. T56 is under warranty so fix is free. Thanks for offer though.

WOW, I NEVER would've thought someone would post this hybrid on this board.
Guess you haven't checked out our Conversions & Hybrids section

I just went to the section that seemed to apply the best to my particular question. It wasn't a how-to question on a conversion - it was an external engine question. In other words - I thought I was going to where the experts were and it appears that I did. Lot's of good answers and, by the way, a very friendly bunch of guys. Really made me feel welcome. Thanks to all.

very cool. How does it handle? I assume the LS1 set-up weighs significantly more than the stock.

I had a 240z a couple cars ago. Too much effort keeping up with the rust.

I would not do that to a '70 240Z. I assume the car has some value as it is the first year out.

Very very clean car! I love it. I posted those pics of it on a local car forum www.anythingcars.com I hope you don't mind. BTW, do you mean www.hybridz.org??? I played with that link for a while before I finally got it lol.

OK - answers to a couple questions.
1) Car gained a total of 30 lbs in the conversion and that was at the back where additional structure went in to handle the torque. The LS1 is actually 25 lbs. lighter than the L28 iron block 6 that came out. plus it sits lower and farther back. Handling is great!
2) Yes, I meant Hybridz.org. Sorry 'bout that. NO problem posting the car on another forum.
3) I may find out tonight what it can do in the 1/4. I haven't been on a strip in 30 years and the car is running 225/50-16 street tires so don't hold a crappy time against the car. Another guy here in the area is running a 240Z with the LS1 and the 4L60E. He is going to try to break into the 11's tonight. A guy in CA with a 280Z like mine has run a 12.0, 116 mph quarter.

I am impressed. I may sell my Camaro and do a project like this! How much did everything cost, 280Z + LS1/T56 + extras to make everything work (headers, etc) + labor? If you don't mind me asking.
