UPDATE!!!

Hooker Y pipe with a 3" Dynomax bullet in the I pipe, followed by the e-cutout and the Corsa catback.

everything will be installed before St. Patty's day....Y pipe and bullet are being ceramic coated and I'm still waiting on the Corsa catback, then I have to get the true dual system off.

I put a borla xr-1 in the ipipe. It took away 95% of the rasp. Plus, it made the exhaust sound deeper, especially when my cutout is open compared to before with no borla in the ipipe. The total sound volume might have come down just a hair but I think it sounds that way just because there is no more of that highpitched rasp that polluted the otherwise muscular sounding exhaust note.
nice man...i will probably do that.. so you put the xr1 after the cutout? mine will be after but im sure it wont make a diff. You got any vids of youre car? whats the tone of the corsa like? vette sounding or...?

I put the xr-1 before my cutout because that was the best location for my setup, yours may differ. My cutout is right before the axle bend as the pipe goes over the axle. It works awesome there. The one effect of having the borla before the cutout is that with the cutout open the exhaust is super loud still (95% of rasp is gone) but it sounds so DAMN deep that is sounds like a big block due to the borla. It doesn't have that ear piercing loud sound of other open cutout exhausts; it sounds very, very deep. As far as when my cutout is closed, I installed an slp dual dual muffler in place of the corsa because I am planning on heads and cam and I wanted to keep it nice and quiet. Therefore, my closed cutout exhaust sounds quieter than stock ws6 exhaust but it sounds like a big block when I open the cutout up, all the while without any damn rasp.

i might have to switch my dynomax bullet to a xr1. the dynomax takes away the rasp from not having cats but it is somewhat high pitched now. hmm...

I have a Borla sportsman racing muffler that is 5" round in diameter and it has a 15" case size. The part # is 40085.

do you think it would be better to use a bullet muffler or metallic spun cats to cut down on rasp?

I think the bullets will produce a deeper tone, while the cats will probably reduce sound levels better, but not change the tone much. If you simply want it quieter, go with cats, but if you're not quite happy with the tone of the exhaust note, maybe try a bullet muffler.

Anyone else have the same opinion on this statement?

Yep I know what rasp is and I do not have it with ORY. Its all dependant on on your set up, displacement, heads, cam, ect.

I have bullets now and most of the rasp is gone, although the bullets have made my WOT sound somewhat higher pitched and i'm looking for a DEEP muscle car/monster sound.

the cats would eliminate the rasp but will also bring down the sound levels a bit but not by much. it's up to you on which you want. I'm going with a xr1 when I get a chance.

I've heard a Corsa with Supermaxx LTs and catd' Y-pipe in front of it, and although I wouldn't call what I heard as rasp, it was tinny sounding. IMHO, I didn't particularly like the way it sounded, but it wasn't raspy.

I am in Sask and I will be out of town until May sometime. So, that is why my car will be in storage until then. Plus, they use so much gravel on the roads around here I usually like to wait until May to give the city sometime to get their street sweepers out.
