3" to 2.5"
Right now I have Pacesetter LTs into their offroad y-pipe with a Dynomax bullet welded on to the end with a turndown. I want to get rid of the turndown and have some pipes coming out the back, but no one around here can mandrel bend 3" pipe, they can only crush bend. They say I should just buy a catback....
Would welded 2.5" onto the end of my 3" Y-pipe/Bullet cause a noticeable drop in power? Or not enough to worry about?
Thanks

Look, downsizing the pipe is of course going to mess with your flow, will it be noticeable? I dunno. Is it worth it? I would say definitely not. Why would you want to do anything that would decrease your power? Why don't you just unplug a spark plug wire while your at it. It will probably decrease your power, but it would sound cool, and that's worth it.

I want to leave the turndown on the Bullet and just mount the muffler sideways in stock location. I don't care about having tips, I want it hidden...so no need to actually buy a catback.

The tail pipes are not as critical as the pipes before the mufflers. The mufflers cause backpressure and lower the exhaust gass velocity significantly. I'ts doubtfull you would notice a rear difference on the dyno and I'd bet money you'd never feel it.
