i want to get some lt's i was leaning toward hooker or pacesetter coated but i want which ever one is the easiest install, ive read that you have to cut or notch out your k member and would rather avoid that. thanks

im between the pacesetters and hooker since they are about the same price and seem to be good quality. i heard that you have to notch with the pacesetter. i dont mind moving/unhooking stuff but i dont feel comfortable cutting into the car...ill look into dynatech a bit i guess

since you brough up the 1 7/8, is there really a performance difference between them and the 3/4 in...just curious

All headers are bolt-on

But from my experience, Pacesetters are the easiest.

More or less except that they don't come with everything you need to bolt them to the car in the box...

I put pacesetters on last weekend and there were no problems getting them in at all. i didnt even have to jack the car up all that high like everyone says. they slid right in with a little bit of turning. I did take out the plugs though before I put them in just so nothing got f-ed up. just make sure you get rid of the y before you start bolting them up or it will cause you major problems getting everything lined up. good luck with whichever you choose.

Every thing that you need??? All you need is the headers and bolts..throw that POS cardboard gasket away and use stock GM metal gaskets..Pacesetters will slide right up in there no propblems..my GF had to lay under the car and hold them up so I could bolt them on or they would fall out on the floor..

IMO pacesetters fit terrible compared to a good quiality header. American Racing Headers fit the best out of any header i have ever installed and i have installed ALOT of diff. brands

There is no notching of anything or lifting the engine like the sheet reads that comes with the headers. I found it easiest to do with a set of swivel sockets. It probably reduced the amount of cuts on my hands I'm half to about 20. I also had trouble bolting the dipstick back on and I had to fab up some Egr and air block off plates. That combined with removing and installing the entire exhaust and pacesetters, ypipe, and catback took 7 hours.

My only regret about pacesetters is I wish I'd have saved for something stainless. Consider that and price more than ease of installation bc theyre all about the same. Installed kooks on a buddies car, went in easy just like the pacesetters.

There are small tolerances throughout the car, but these small tolerances can turn into a big problem when installing headers. One person may buy a brand of headers and they slip right in no problems, and another guy may have to remove the spark plugs, grind the k-member and the casting tab, remove the steering, etc and may have nothing but trouble.

The best advice is to get your car on a lift. No matter what brand of headers you buy, it's always a lot easier on a lift.

I have installed a few different brands myself and none went on any easier than the pacesetters did..I have over 100,000 miles on a set of coated pacesetters and they are holding up great in day to day driving..no complaints here...

Kooks are the best. Full Stainless steel, best sound quality, and they really tuck up nice under the car. Pipes under car hang at about the same level as stock.
