Gravity isn't the only force in the equation. Pressure, leak down, and engine operating range are the other variables at work in the PCV system. Gravity will not take all or even most of the oil to the bottom of an empty catch can because most of the oil that is carried through the system is in vapor form. Some form of condensing material or filter is required inside the catch can to help the vapor condensate and in-turn collect in the bottom of the catch can. Under long periods of WOT (i.e. open track and road racing) there is sufficient pressure to push most of the oil vapor through an improperly designed catch can and into the intake.
That it should be "after the can? You just said in post #34 that it should be "before" the can.

I stated earlier I was incorrect about the direction the valve is facing. YOUR PCV VALVE IS POINTING IN THE CORRECT DIRECTION!!!!!!!!!! YOU CAN PUT THE PCV VALVE ON EITHER SIDE OF THE CATCH CAN!!!!!!!!! Take a little time to read what someone writes before hastily replying.

Thanks. It took a couple times to bend the brake lines well and I might do the passengers side again but I'm happy with it right now. Shoot, if that set-up doesn't catch the oil I don't know what will.
Perhaps I'll try it that way. Stays dry now tho. I can't see oil traveling in the can via the lower port, running down the inside of the can, then traveling upwards inside the tube/baffle.
when the pcv oil/gasses enter thru the bottom port, they come in contact with more surface area of the inside of the catchcan. the top port on the catch can acts as the "filter" and filters out any oil left in the vapors, allowing it to just drip. it will work either way, but this way you get more separation.
The cans with a perforated tube running down the center work best with the flow coming in through the top center extending to app 1 1/2" from the bottom. And the vacum PCV regulated line pulling the vaors out the upper side fitting. This allows the vapors to evenly disperse out the small holes in the tube and evenly contacting as much inner surface as possible to aid in the condensation of the vaors so the liquid is not pulled into the intake, just the unburnt fuel & combustion gasses that are then burned in the combustion process.
