SLP Longtubes worth 40HP???? Ok looking for some good headers, I saw on LS1speed that SLP LT's are supposed to give near 40hp. That sounds like B.S. to me. I've read other people's posts about Kooks giving 35hp. That I might believe for a $1200 setup. Anyone know what I would need for my car as far as headers and x/y pipe? I have the 345 hp package but not sure if that is the dual/dual setup everyone is talking about. Would the Kooks and X/ Y pipe bolt up to that exhaust??
Re: SLP Longtubes worth 40HP???? the slps will give you bout 30 to the ground according to some local guys who have em round here they might say more but their probally talking at the fly not to ground (imo) slp makes one of the best set of headders on the market along with flp. I have no expirence with the kooks headders but alot of people seem to like em. (imo) the kooks being larger would be better suited for a larger displacement car for a 346 (stock or bolton ls1) id stick with the slp's or flp's. you can bolt slp headders up to your slp ss exaust provided you buy their special headder y pipe.

hey ram air 346 i dont see how your posing such high numbers what have you done to get 380 rwhp? is that sae corrected or mairne.
Wait, I read it again and it's in the works? Whatever.
Anyhow,
SLP's are OK, only complaint here is the low clearance. Others like FLP, and Grott design headers are very popular.
As for 40 hp gains, maybe after playing dyno queen for a day.

Re: SLP Longtubes worth 40HP???? The 388hp was with the G5X2, SLPs, Y-pipe dumped, a volant intake, and a granatelli MAF that wouldn't let them tune the AF and the rest of the stuff in the sig. Edelbrock headers are on the way along with a stock MAF, and a lid. 400hp should be a breeze. 388 was on a Mustang Dyno too. Everything should be done within a week.

Re: SLP Longtubes worth 40HP???? SLP advertises that much power, but your typical LS1 will get between 18-25RWHP, at least on our dyno. Obviously, the more air you are moving, the more power they will add.
