best spark plugs???

best spark plugs??? thinking of changing my plugs {bosch +4} what should i go with? i saw a tread that said platnuim plugs do not work well in this motor is this true? what about irridum plugs say a thread that a guy claimed 9rwhp when he switched not sureif it's

thanks Re: best spark plugs??? Well i used Iridium plugs from NGK, I like them, not sure on the power gains cause I installed them along with my headers. I know that they last twice as long as plats and spark hotter then copper. So if your willing to pay the price for them suckers, like I did, i'd say get the Iridiums(IMO)

Re: best spark plugs??? I'm running the NGK TR55's with no problems. Pulled them out at 20K mi and they looked great. As far as improved performance....? I don't think they're better than any other decent plug out there. Never heard of anyone getting +9 from plugs unless the old plugs were toast.

Re: best spark plugs??? They way I understand it, the platinum tipped plugs will actually hold more heat than standard plugs and I suppose could lead to pre-ignition. I would suppose that the iridium plugs would be t he same way. Can't say this from personal experience just from hearing a bit here and a bit there. However, I do know for sure that the NGK TR55s are accepted as the standard plug on these engines, unless you're running nitrous or FI... in which case it would be the TR6s.

According to LS1 experts, platinum tipped plugs (which come in the cars stock) are fine as long as you're not running a supercharger/turbo/nitrous because the tips get hot and stay hot, which can lead to pre-ignition as someone else already said. In the article I read about this in High Performance Pontiac, the expert said he liked using NGK T5's. Hope this helps.

Re: best spark plugs??? Whatever you do get rid of those worthless Bosch Platinums. Easily the worst plugs on the market. As far as problems with platinums go, I haven't heard of any on the LS1 except when people used Bosch. ACDelco and NGK platinums work fine as long as you choose the proper heat range. Heat range is the main reason the Bosch plugs don't seem to work. They have one plug that supposedly covers an infinite number of heat ranges.

With that said my T/A came from the factory with the NGK TR5's the platnium version of the TR5. No two were gapped the same. My car ran better with TR55's.

Has anyone tried the newest plugs available from GM? JPR says they helped idle and mid-range, just curious if anyone has tried the newest, say from October on. Apparently they are not cheap either, like $45.00 for 8. Then again the iridium TR55's are $56.00.

what are those plugs they sell on rksport.com are they any good what about the wires i have about 60000 miles on my car should I worry about changing them? I have no probs with the car but i wonder if it wouldnt hurt

Did you must not have bought the car brand new b/c mostly ALL GM products have AC Delco plugs from the factory. I so mostly all b/c I'm not sure of them running anything different unless it would be in a rice version on a Cavalier. You also claim that they were not gapped the same........ I doubt that was the work of GM

nothig but ngk tr55's here. they get great spark like 10 times better over stock. and the shock hurts a hell of a lot worse too lol dont get bosch i dont hear anything but bad things with those in ls1's. i got my plugs, all 8 for 15.99
I'm a firm believer of NGK's..TR55's for natural and TR6's for power adders.
I've dealt with way too many problem's with stock,iradium and other platinum plugs.All my customer's cars run NGK's and never had a problem.

Years ago, I tried the +4's on a Buick 3800 and they worked well. Same plug on a 2nd gen 4 cyl Probe ran like crap. My GTO came with Delco (made by NGK) iridiums. I put in TR55's and have a smoother idle. I've got another thread going HERE on the Brisk LGS plugs, which intrigue the heck out of me.
