Will 1 7/8 headers work with stock ls1?

Hey guys im looking into buy hooker longtube headers (P/N 2291-1HKR) and the size is 1 7/8. My car is stock right now so i didnt know if they will work. Pros and cons? thanx

Technically they will work, but are better suited for larger cube engines or radically big cammed engines moving more exhaust. It could effect your low-end but will give you more breathing room up top, although one has to ask why you want to go with 1 7/8 when 1 3/4 would be fine for a stockish engine?

Cuz im wanting headers and im talking to a guy that has a set of these (race style) in good condition that i might get for a good price. I didnt know at first they were 1 7/8 and now that i know that i thought i would ask you guys and see if it would be good or bad? thanx

You'll loose torque (because of a lack of back pressure) throughout most of the RPM range. Actually, for a stock or lightly modded engine, 1 5/8" headers would be best in my opinion.

Like HEMIETR said, buy them. I have the bigger tubes on my 346 and it has plenty of power. You won't notice, and when you decide to run the bigger engine your headers will still be good. Same reason I ran a 4 inch mufflex exhaust. Run big and high flowing exhaust stuff, you won't regret it.
