I know this is an old thread, but its still a new ongoing problem, leaking flanges. I like the V-band applications. Ive been using a C Flange Bracket i made in my basement for flat flanges. However, the I.D. of my 3 bolt C Flange Bracket is 3". That may fit the pipe with the V-band that has a O.D. of 3". But to fit the C Flange Bracket around the pipe as an assembly will necessitate the use of the 2 2-bolt C Flange Brackets. Each I.D. edge grabbing the V-band lip on the pipe. I haven't tried this but maybe a 4 bolt bracket would allow enough torque around the lip of the pipe to pull the surfaces of the flange together when tightening the bolts through both sets of C Flange Brackets. What do you think?

Hi-temp silicone works fine. Those band clamps (which I already use) can warp the pipe...it doesn’t take much overtightening to do this.
Apply the silicone, slide the pipe on and tighten. Immediately afterward, wipe excess silicone off, and be done with it. There was no problem disconnecting the pipes a year later, nor was there any red showing from the silicone.
The before and after silicone went like this...before..vacuum leak/fuel trim issues. Afterward, fuel trims “perfect”/no leaks.

I had 3 bolt flanges welded on my collectors, no more leaks. The adhesive actually melted and made a huge mess when I tried that.

Looks like old-school still gets the job done!

Yep, If I was to do it over, I'd have spent more for the Dynatech headers with flanges already installed. Silicone, exhaust putty and tape all make a mess.

I had mine cut off and ball and sockets welded on. They are old ugly headers so I didn' mind. No leaks
