Yah I know..... there has to be at least a 5 HP gain from a Shorty even on a 01 02 car.

It's better then leaving the stockers on there. I got my edelbrock shorties for 50 dollars. Now i can care less if it's 1 hp across the board. It's still more power

shorty headers are bullshit anyway. you might get 5-10rwhp but you wont gain any torque...so whats the point?

on a side note; thank god I'm in the state of Texas where I can get away with anything

Think of it this way...

SHorty headers and a catted Y should yield you 15whp.. Not the 30 from LT's and an O/R Y but still a decent gain.

I have JBA headers and a loudmouth. I installed the headers after the catback, and the sound difference the headers made was worth the swap alone IMO. I have a 98, so i noticed a solid gain; about as much as the loudmouth made.

If you can find some shorties for less than $250 then I say go for it. I live in Cali too and found mine for $225. Sounds better now and I'd imagine they helped hp/tq too. Oh and they look a whole lot better than stock manifolds too

Hey guys thanks for all the replies but i think im going to stick with the stock manifolds for now then get LTs later but im going to buy the SLP Y-Pipe and the SLP Loudmouth

I had JBA shorties about 6 years ago, which are the best made. They look fantastic , but ZERO rwhp gain, I mean ZERO!!!!!!!!!!! Since they have a CARB # on them they are legal on the left coast, but expect no gain. Now when I took off the cats I did gain about 15 rwhp, but I also installed a 3" Borla Y pipe. Don't waste your$.
