Shorty headers arent gonna give much hp gain in the first place. You'd gain more with hp with long tube headers. IMO I dont think Shorties are even worth the work of taking your stock manifolds off. Do a search on shorty headers vs long tubes.

The 00-02 manifolds are better than the 98-99 manifolds so in your case i would save the money towards an ls6 intake or mid tubes that keep your stock cat location.

MAC makes mid lengths. You can also get a nice catted Y.

That's all an opinion. Some people like LM1 with headers and others don't. See If you can find a sound clip on LS1sounds.com

Honestly...and this is coming from someone who has shortys...I wouldnt waste the money. Mid lengths are still ilegal in Ca so you may as well get longtubes. Even with Longtubes you only have to worry about them if you are either doing something wrong, revving, or being a dick to the cop to make him want to pop the hood. And then he has to know what he is looking at which most dont.

If I had a resource like LS1tech at my dispossal i never would have wasted the money. Just my opinion.

Like was already said, don't waste your money. The 2000-2002 manifolds are just as good/better than a shorty. If you had a 1998-1999, then yes, the shorties would be a little better, but they aren't any better than the 2000-2002.

DON'T DO IT!!!

Completely off topic...man I'm glad I don't live in Cali.

All you need to do is port match your stock manifolds and it will give you a similar gain in power. I dont think you need a new Y pipe if you do buy the shortys. Good luck!

And you know this for a fact? Then don't make a claim that the stock manifolds are better then a short header. Edelbrock Shorties are a nice header for the money

I read that in another thread from one of the moderators if I remember correctly. I couldn't remember which one it was or else I would have put the link in there.

It was https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-external-engine/520845-mod-guide-induction-exhaust-please-read-before-posting.html. It's from one of the stickies at the top of the page, down in the exhaust part.

He said "- If you have an 00-02 car do not bother with shorties. They received a better-designed manifold and flow quite well actually for what they are. You will see minimal gain if any by switching to shorties. If you have a 98-99 car you'll gain some rwhp from shorties but it wont be much either.?"

Thank you.

I have a 2000 SS camaro and when i bought it the car had Eldebrock shorties on it already. I am thinking of changing to LTs and if your interested in these we could make somekind of deal.

I'd love some proof that the stockers are better then Shorties or i'll just chalk it up to bullshit.
