Default SLP cold air induction?

I have been searching for hours trying to find anyone who has installed, or tested the SLP Cold Air Induction Kit. Advertised in summit(part #SLE-21033). SLP claims 10 RWHP........but haven't seen anyone with one installed yet. It is supposed to force air from the bottom up into the air box. I also know you can do a mod with a WS6 hood to route extra air threw the "nostrils", which also creates a true ram air effect at higher speeds. If anyone has some knowledge on these parts, or modifications then please share.

I posted a thread about it a few days ago. Some people said it wasn't worth it and others said it was good for .2 on the 1/4. I'm going to pick one up probably. It's not like it's real expensive.

i asked that question a while back and every one told me that the slp cold air really wasent worth it to just get the lid. so i got the lid and my car runs good. so i used some of the money left over to buy other goodies

its ok. what you will find people saying is a lid is a lid. i have the slp CA and havent had any problems with it but i dont know what additional gains are there because of it. i think it could be a little lower and forward for function. but i dd my car and if its raining i didnt want **** all up in it.

The issue is you won't typically see dyno gains from the CAI because there is no great benefit to having it when the car is sitting still. But when you are blasting down the track at 100+ mph (or less...) and now the colder air from outside the engine compartment is being forced into it, the engine responds well.

If two people have the same cars and dyno the same with the same setups, only one has the cold air, I would expect it to have the advantage from a roll or at the top end of the track.

Think about it this way: it's $120 and it's absolutely not going to hurt you, but it very well could give you more power up top. Why not?

I'd go with a lid and FRA stuff. Save that money for something else, or see if you could find a used one. Mine did more to heat the coolant than give me more power at the track.

I don't know if I'd take performance advice from the "slowest stalled car in northern CA". J/K

Go with the FTRA. Is is a proven part that works very well. You can read about it at www.installuniversity.com

We also sell a kit to upgrade the SLP cold air kit to be similiar to our FTRA kit. That's a great option for people that already bought the SLP kit.

it increases "map load%", at WOT my map load was at 97% with out the slp cold pac, now its at 101-102%

i logged it with my HP Tuners

at 97% you are not getting enough air
at 100% you are at atom... pressure thats (good)
at 101-102% you are actually forcing air into the motor (best)

so the .2 gain is reasonable, and a small increase in hp is also possible, every car is different.

guys if i am wrong please correct me and i will fix it.
Thanks in advance.
