Default Autometer tach install

I just got finished wiring in my autometer memory tach in the car. I used the instructions of install university's site for the harlan shiftlight. The only thing that the instructions dont cover in that write up is what wire to splice into for the tach back light. I would like to hook it into one of the wires that actually goes to the lights themselves. So when I turn the lights on the tach will illuminate. Any info appreciated.

The closest place would be the back of the parking light switch, tapping into the parking light output. I have an auto, so I tapped into the shifter position light in the console - probably the easiest way to go but would invove running wires up to your light.

Good luck

Edit, just saw that you have an M6...guess you have no gear position light, but if you have a light in your armrest compartment that's a good spot, too.

I would if I knew which one of the wires was the power wire for the lights.

If you'd rather do it that way, I have a wiring guide and it should have that in it. Let me know if you want to, and I'll look into it. Console light involves running longer wires, but will be a lot more straightforward and involves taking less of your car apart

I would rather go under the dash if at all possible.

If I'm reading this diagram correctly, the parking light output should be a brown wire on the back of the switch. You could always double check it with a voltmeter to make sure it shows 12V when the lights are on. If you run into any snags or anything, feel free to shoot me an e-mail or PM.

Great! Thanks for doing the research on this for me. I would have never been able to find it on my own.
