Default SLP Air Temp Module

The one which plugs between the IAT sensor and the harness connector. If I understood it correctly, it tells the PCM that the air is always at a certain temperature and to adjust spark advance accordingly. Or something like that...

Any downsides for using it?

SLP says on their website that <font color="red">"NOT legal for use on pollution controlled motor vehicles."<!--color--></font> Why is that? So..., will it hurt my emission systems?

Who here has one? Experiences? Comments?

Edumacate me...

Thanks!

I have it on my car.
I don't think it really helps any, but for $15 I figured I'd try it (I bought it used).
It's been on my car probably about a year, no ill affects from it.

yep. Went to a test and tune, to figure out if this temp module actually works. Without the module my car ran consistent 13.8's(3 runs). Then I put the module on and I ran consistent 14.2's(2 runs). Took it off and the run I hit a 13.8 again(last run of the night).

My advise is stay away from SLP. They are full of crap. Save your money and get something else that actually works. Like a torque converter, lid, exhaust, and other simple bolt ons. IMHO

i dint put the slp air temp module on my car but i did the install university iat timing tricker, same exact mod but i only spent maybe a buck for couple of resistors from radio shack. all it is is a resistor that u plug in. go to install university and theyll explain it a little better. they also compared the slp version and there version. i ran my car this past saturday @ the tracks, i did this mod along wit my lt headers and my true duals i ran a 12.8 @ 110 2.0 sixty dunno if that made a differance. the resistor that install university says to put on advances the timing about 1.5 degrees. i put it on my fens 35th anniversarry ss and he gained 2 mph from bone stock so i guess it helped a little.

I have one already. Paid 20 bucks for it. Not a biggie.

Lid is already on there. Cutout waiting to be installed. TC maybe in the future.

It's my daily driver, so I'm not going to do anything too extreme.

Just seems that there is so much contradictory information about this particular mod...

I have an SLP IAT, was a waste of money. I dyno'd it on my car and it was worthless.

A good torque converter is the best mod for an A4. This mod is like the changing the maf. Some people gain while others lose. Id try it because you bought it but your not going to feel a difference. If it was more solid I think more would have it on their car

I lost five RWHP with it and promptly sold it. All cars are different, though. Try it if you want. You can always sell it.
