Default 5.3 Upgrade

Maybe this is the wrong thread sorry I am a newbie

I am taking a 5.3 out of a tahoe and going to due some internal upgradeing (cam and maybe heads)

But I am going to go ls6 intake and slp headers I dont know if i need injectors

I am curious what I need to do about wiring as far as throttle body or what throttle body I need to run (iff not stock) MAF (if i need to upgrade)

just some basic pointers or threads to read

Thanks in advance

Lowest cost is to add the LS6 intake & a stock LS1/LS6 cam & run a LS1/LS6 ported TB. You will see a pretty nice improvment for very little $. Add a samll turbo for some boost & expect 600 plus HP.

We have good used take-out cams for $50 each plus shipping if you want one.

you will need to do some rigging to make the ls6 intake work with truck accessories.

What do you think power wise with cam intake and tb

And do you have any pull off intakes as well?

TB aftermarket or stock with port( i am guessing that is what you are refering to)

and what kind of riging am i going to have to do???

May I recommend a stop over in performancetrucks.net? It's an affliate board; they are geared more toward trucks, not that we aren't here.

I did a 6.0 bottom end swap in my Avalanche along with a good cam, some long tube headers, stock 5.3 heads, stock truck intake manifold, stock catback, stock converter. I ran 15.1@90 MPH with it. It weighed 6100 lbs with me in it. The torque is produced was wonderful.

if you want to use an ls6 intake you will need to swap to camaro accessories or take a camaro water pump and swap the truck pulley over. you can search on performancetrucks.net and read about it.

I'd look over on performancetrucks...

There are plenty of writeups on how to do the truck intake --> LS6 intake swap, a lot of guys have done it.

Whats the motor going in?? It may be beneficial for you to keep the truck manifold and just mill the heads some with a cam and exhaust... Guys are running 11's on truck manifolds... on motor, in 4500+lb trucks... Its ugly, sure, but its not to be sneezed at. It flows better than the LS1 car manifold.
