Default Jet Hot Headers

I went racing Saturday and on the last run it left hard on the footbrake at 3,000 RPM resulting in a 1.453 sixty foot it seemed to take forever for it to come down it ran a 10.80 at 123 MPH NA. The best run was a 1.445 sixty foot 10.759 at 123.59 MPH NA.

On the downside at the end of that run on the way down the return lane I noticed it was making a strange noise. When I got back to the pits to put the car in the trailer and opened the hood guess what I found the EGR tube was gone off of my Jet Hot driver side header. This ended the day on a sour note, not good a hole the size of a nickel in the header.

Has anyone had this happen to them? The headers have 1,000 miles on them and are 4 years old with the coating.

If you had the EGR blocked off it can and will happen. Very common. That is why getting race style with out EGR/Air tubes is the best.

You are correct when I bought them they did not have the race version. The funny thing is the headers were open with only 18" turn downs.

Just a weak point when they are blocked off. Just patch em up.

My FLP's did the same thing. I just laid some steel on it and put a bead all the way around. Never a peep after that.

Its common for that to happen. knock on wood ive had the same headers on my car for six years and no problems with them.

It seems odd that with no exhaust on the car except for 18 inch turndowns that it would fell. I just hope I did not hurt the valve. I guess the tube/weld popped off when I let off at the top end. I know it made a full pass without skipping a beat.

When I rolled my window down to get my slip is when I heard something and got it back to the trailer and shut the engine off as quick as I could!
