Let me remember... I just so happened to walk into the shop to ask them about the job, and the dude that was going to perform the labor looked at me kinda funny, then walked away, and came back with my future 4" merge with reducer already on it and proceded to tell me that another Fbody owner had just had it taken off because of his ground clearance. I think we settled on about $120 for:

His "junk" merge, welding in my vband clamps, fabbing the merge into my Y pipe.

Something around ~$120

Now that I have a welder though, I doubt that I will ever visit another exhaust shop.

Funny thing is that I havent ever experienced a ground clearance issue with it...

I don't have any more clips other than what I posted back in '08. I'm thinkin about selling my entire exhaust, minus v bands and headers, so that I can build a true dual setup.

I think you could use a little heat shielding above that diverter...

BUMP - Thinking about going this route with my Speed engineering Y pipe.

Questions. Would all the inlets and outlets be a 4" or would they be 3" for the 2 pipes connecting to the Y and a 4" for the exit of the merge?

Going to be adding a 4" cutout in also

Assuming you've got a 3" Y pipe then what you need is a merge with 3" inlets and a single 4" outlet. This is really probably one of the cleanest ways to have a high flow f body exhaust with great ground clearance, imo. I've got duals now and they sound great and flow better than the former setup, but the ground clearance was severely diminished.

Yeah, I see true duals on them and they always look retarded IMO.. Was behind a black ss the other day and could see his entire exhaust lol....Ugly to me

They do sound badass however

My Pacesetter ORY had a horrible merge, so I had a FM merge put in (3" in 4" out) and not only did it sound much better but the performance was better as well. It made a pretty significant difference

This is what I hear. Performance gains seem to be quite noticeable

Yep and to give you an example my car originally only made 67 rwhp on a 100 shot. After the FM merge I made just over 100 rwhp on that same shot. The lack of a real merge was such a big bottleneck with the power I was making
