Default SLP header dyno

I just got back from dynoing my car. new mods are the SLP longtubes, with cats, ATR pitbull exh, MAF trans, 918 valvesprings with TI retainers and pushrods,TR6 plugs 17x11 in AFS rims with 315 tires.

the car pulled a best of
326.7 RWHP and 334.9 rwtq
the dyno wideban O2 put my right near 13:1 afr
before the changes the cars best at this dyno was
322.5 RWHP and 332.0 RWTQ
the car had a loudmouth on it for the exh. stock internals and plugs

anyone have any ideas about those results?
I am doing a cam swap, then sending it out to be tuned with LS1 edit, but I was expecting more from the headers.

If the MAFT is altering the MAF signal alot, it could change the way the PCM sees the engines load and effect overall timing. What was total timing while on the dyno?

Headers will prove their worth w/ the cam.

To be honest I am not really suprised at all. The springs are going to rob a little power since thet are stiffer than stock, and the AFS wheels a little also because they are heavier. I have yet to hear of anyone gaining big numbers with the SLP headers, especially with cats. At least you picked up some torque

SLP headers typically dyno lower than MAC midlength headers and other Longtube headers

I had excellent gains with my SLP's with no cats. But it did make the car run very rich. If BillS is using the MAFT to lean it out, he maybe be showing a false reading from the MAF so the PCM is not adding enough timing.

why are you running TR 6's? those plugs are one step colder than stock and are mainly used for people running nitrous/blower/turbo. That may be where your problem is. You may not have enough "fire" so to speak.

Also those stiff springs will cost you some power too. Ever tried to turn the crank by hand with stock springs? It's pretty easy to do. With 918's on it's it takes ALOT of force to turn the crank by hand.

TR-6s run just fine in NA applications too. I ran 'em to 11.51 internally stock in my '00, then later to a 9.82 NA when it had a 422. Now I run 'em in my A4 '02 that dynoed 359 RWHP intenally stock and ran 11.82 full weight on Nittos. Why do I run 'em NA? Because they allow me to run a little leaner and a little more timing advance without detonation.

It's not the cooler plug's fault.

I agree with Colonel. The TR6s maybe cost a couple of HP, but you can tune around it to a certain extent. I wouldn't use anything else with the bottle

I wouldnt knock the SLP headers. They look good, fit well, and dont leak. Only problem is the car did run rich which was fixed, and they hang low w/my car being lowered. Big deal!

With my SLP LTs, 918 Springs, Moly Pushrods, and my cam I made 396rwhp/386rwtq.

Get a cam, it should wake up that motor. Im also running the TR6 plugs as well.

With just a lid/filter and SLP LM my car made 334rwhp/351rwtq.

You still have cats on the car, whereas I had mine removed.

Id be pissed if those were my numbers.

On a local area dyno that is known throughout DFW to dyno atleast 10rwhp less than other DFW dyno's I put down 396rwhp/394rwtq.

That's a good bit of info about the TR6's though. I was thinking this guy was running stock tuning for some reason though. I think I'll wait to switch to them for when blower comes

I got 372 hp with my SLP's and ORP's with a Thunder 224 cam, Its not bad but not great either, The finish of those headers is pretty good though and once they were in they did fit pretty good.

I put the SLP LT's with cats on my car and it first it didnt seem like i got any gains, but the more i drove it and put some miles on it the better and better it responded. I swear every mod i have done to my car has been the same way... Just give it some time?? Good Luck...

I took the car to Eastside Performance for a LS1 edit dyno tune. The got 333.5rwhp and 344.2 rwtq. they did make dome big gains lower in the rpm range, and the car feels faster, I need to take it to the track and see. I was hoping for better #'s but the cam should wake things up( 223.5/223.5, .558 lift,115 LS) and the headers were free so I cant complaine too much
