Pacesetter has a smoother Y-pipe. Everytime someone buys a Flowtech Y-pipe, I get a call that the customer thinks it is damaged because if the flat spots in it. Both headers fit fine..but I think Pacesetter gets the nod on the Y-pipe alone.

they are both a good header i asked the same question before i bought mine, i hear that the pacesetter comes with thicker flanges so thats what made me choose the pacesetters.

Neither if that was a option. Dynatech F T W. Or Kooks, QTP, ARH.

As for the choice of the 2, Pacesetter.

All long tube headers will produce the same hp gain with in a very close margin. You are paying for the quality of materials and craftsmanship used to build the header. Pacesetters are a fine choice if you do not feel like dropping 1k on a set of headers. The Kooks and similar brands are expensive because there are made of stainless and made very well. The pacesetters are just coated steel. They will all perform the same though. I had them for 3 years on my old T/A and they never rusted through nor did I have any problems. They did have surface rust on the collectors but nothing big. I would go with the pacesetters just on the price alone, you can't beat it IMO.

Not everyone wants to spend triple the pacesetter cost just to have a stainless header that isn't going to make much (if any) more power. I say Pacesetter dumdumdum!

Pacesetters are definitely the better one out of the two, but they are both low end headers. I would save up for something better. JMO. You can get stainless for less than $100 more these days. Pacesetters may have been a good buy 3 years ago, but not so much in today's oversaturated market.

Out of the two I would say Pacesetters. I had them on my Z28 and they fit very very good. If the LPP headers were out yet I would suggest those.

Just took pacesetters off my car. Some minor surface rust after 20k miles of rain, snow, sun, salt, etc. They were awesome headers and I'd buy them again if I had to do it all over again (just NOT emissions headers, **** that EGR fitting).

I got my QTPs for 699.00, and TSP y-pipe for 130.00, not too bad considering pacesetter with off-road y-pipe combo was around 530.00. More yes, but hardly triple the amount. My QTPs went in smoothly and sound great!

Sorry double in your case...you can get coated Pacesetters for $380. Kooks can cost $1K which is closer to triple. You want to hear something that will really make you sick - LG Pro's can cost $1600 for vettes...I'll pass!

Its not triple the cost.....

Both from New Era Perf.

http://www.neweraperformanceparts.co...43&NID=4488915

Pace Setter long tube Headers with emissions tubes(Ceramic Coated)
Your Price: $379.95/ea.

Camaro/Firebird LS1 Off Road Catalytic Y-Pipe
Your Price: $523.69/ea.

Around 904 + shipping, and thats not including gaskets,o2's extensions etc etc.

From New Era Perf.

98-02 LS1 F-body Dynatech Supermax Header system
Long 1 3/4” Tube Design ,
All T-304 Stainless Steel ,'
CAD designed Aero-flow collectors ,
OBD-II compliant Hi-Flow Converters ,
Direct bolt-on fit .

Your Price: $1,199.95 ea.

Apples to Apples its not that much different. Now your talking a complete kit with the Dynatech, a PROVEN header that makes power, easy to install and comes with EVERYTHING. Every nut, bolt, and zip tie.

For 200 more id go stainless and get a complete kit.

People compare prices but do not compare the items your getting. I am sure New Era has a header only price but again, I dont feel like calling.

There are deals out there, people just need to look. Dynatechs are on ave around 1500 now, but this sale is still good.

If you compare QTP's to Pacesetters, QTP's walk all over the Pacesetters in gains. There is a huge difference.

Factor in that you can get stainless headers for $450, it makes Pacesetters a foolish purchase nowadays. There is no excuse not to get stainless with today's oversaturated market. Pacesetters are undersized for a longtube at that.
