Default pcv catch can or breather

Is it better to vent it through a breather or retain some vacuum on the crankcase?

For a street application you deffinatley want to pull vacum at idle & low rpm's to remove the harmful gasses & vapors & a catch can is insurance against oil mist entering the intake. As Viper stated, on a race application breather will work as long as the oil is changed every few races unless Alky is the fuel, then you will need a belt driven vac pump to remove the moisture & unburnt fuel from the crankcase.

You do need some neg pressure in the engine to operate with out blowing seals, The PCV system will assist along with a Catch Can..

Breathers do work.. but can get messy... but does nothng to evaculate the gasses in the inside of the engine.

This is a debate that will go on forever..Do some research with the search...

IMO, if it is a street Car use a PCV system & Catch Can.

got a few quick questions,

-the orginal hose that came off the car, next to the intake, the ground strap. Should i keep that part, or can i just use some fuel hose?

-the hose from the front of the passenger valve cover to the TB, What exactly is that for?

1- It may look like a ground strap.. but it is only there to hold the PCV in place. Yes, you can use any other type of hope that is correctly rated for use as for a PCV system.

2- Fresh air intake for the PCV system.
