FIPK VS. DIRECT FLOW LID WITH FTRA???

Default FIPK VS. DIRECT FLOW LID WITH FTRA???

Hey guys, juss wanted to know which one is better FIPK or the lid with FTRA. i used to have the lid and now i have the FIPK. Since i put the FIPK in the car, i haven't had a chance to test it at the track cuz is to hoottt over here in Cali.... for sure i know the FIPK will give me more HP than the lid. So let me know about some suggestion or info... thanks!!!!!

I personally like the lid/ftra combo better. I brought up the same question awhile ago and the responses I was getting most was this:

The FIPK II will give better dyno numbers.

The Lid/ftra will give a better 1/4 gain.

Obviously I went with the TSP lid and SSRA setup and I have no regrets. The ram air really pays off at higher speeds. I still gained all the HP but the SSRA's 12-14 horses won't show up on the dyno so it appears weaker then FIPK but I believe it's actually stronger.

You can't go wrong with either setup. Both kick a$$ over stock.

Although I would think a ws6 with BGRA and FIPK II would be hard to beat both dyno and track.

Suggestion, scribe a rectangle or trapezoid under the filter on the plate and cut it out, round off edges and repaint. Then cut the plastic under the metal support, this allows more air up there. I used to look at the top of my FIPK to see when it needs cleaning, now I peek under it cause the bottom gets dirty first, more air. What did I gain, peace of mind that air is being brought in easier. Agree with the Lid/SSRA setup though. Lower dyno # due to no air movement, but on track might see a 1-2mph gain, 1/10th.

Anyone every dyno a FIPK with the hood down to see if the numbers dropped?

If all one want's is a good dyno just take the lid loose and dyno...no need to go and buy a FIPK

fipk iS LESS RESTRICTIVE. That is why it puts better Dyno # with hood up. The only problem is with hood closed, FIPK looses its Ram Air effect because of no air bieng directly injected in like the SSFRA at speeds.
However if Uuse a hood like ULTRA Z, which has the opening right above the FIPK. I believe the FIPK would make more horses.
I have an SS hood and I'm switching to Ultra Z for a true Ram Air like in the old days.

Most people argue that the lid is cheaper, and it is...until you add a SSRA/FTRA. At that poin tyou negate the arguement, and it basically comes down to which you like looking at when your hood is up. I dynoed hood down and seen no difference in my numbers. Comparing IAT's, I see maybe a few * more when sitting in the staging lanes than the lid/RA guys, but that is a maybe. I do plan on swapping my friends lid/FTRA onto my car and run back to back. Hopefully I really will pick up a couple mph.

even if you cut the base on the FIPK, your still only getting yourself as far as the FRA mod on a lid setup. then you also have to deal with hot air being pulled from the engine.
