Default LS2 intake on a LS1

I am going to be purchasing a Vette in the not to distant future and I'm brainstorming possible mods.

I know the LS2 and the Vette LS1 both use drive by wire throttle bodies. The LS2 is a 4 bolt and the LS1 is a 3 bolt. Does anyone know if the T/B used on the LS2 motor will plug in and work correctly on a Vette? If so I was consittering a LS2 intake and T/B as a possible mod because the LS2 intake has a 90mm mouth and flows as good or better than the LS6 intake.

well bad news check bro, the LS2 intake mani does not flow better than the LS6, SA designs did a book on performance parts for the gen III called "dyno proven GM LS1-LS7 performance parts", they did the test and the LS6 won

stock t/b is a 75 i believe, but yes, here's a quote from the book......
"While it seems that the LS2 is better than its predecessor in every way, the reality is that the intake manifold used on the LS2 is somewhat less than ideal in terms of maximum power. In fact, you'll need to look back to the LS6 to find the best factory intake for the Gen III engines. While it seems odd to replace an intake that features a 90mm throttle opening with one that has an 75mm opening, the reality is that there is much more to the intake design than simple airflow or throttle size. The runner cross-section and length, and even the plenum volume, all play a part in determining the power production of the engine."

the test was ran on an LS2 crate motor, so the LS6 even won on a bigger displacement engine

A ported ls2 will flow as much if not more then a out of the box Fast 90... Do a search and you will find the proof.. It has been discussed millions of times. Sorry for the hijack

i believe the LS2 bolts right up, but you have to change fuel rails, injectors, etc., a ported 90 can flow as well as it has been ported, but we were discussing a swap of stock parts, not modified ones

I believe I read the same or similar article as you 02silvaZ, where the LS6 intake outperformed the LS2 intake, with different TB combos, proven on a dyno.

i went the LS2 route because i plan on going FI in the future. a ported LS2 does flow as well as an out-of-the-box fast 90 and cost hundreds less (~$600 compared to ~$800). an ls2 also makes substancially more power than an ls6 on a boosted motor, mostly due to the 90mm TB.

katech makes a set of adapter screws for mounting ls1 rails and injectors to an ls2 intake...they cost $25, they also make a harness extension for the relocated MAP sensor...it costs $27.
