Default Hole in TB blade?!

i just read this in another thread...does this really work? has anyone done this who has a big cam??

Thanks,
Logan

I kno the stock TB already has a hole in it. I had to drill a hole in my BBK so it would idle. I would say that sounds about right.

This is a really old tuning trick that goes back to Carburator days..... it does work.. just be carefull on how big you go.. start small, then enlarge it as you need..

A drill & some bits, as stated before, start small & go larger as needed.
A good tune won't need the hole enlarged...

I disagree. Check out several of Nick Williams posts in this thread about drilling a hole...

My tuner also needed to enlarge the hole in the blade of my tb for my stroker. It runs great.

And you get more affect from drilling another, albeit smaller, hole. More so than just enlarging your current hole.

And I agree with Unstang, but it does depend on the cam.

I was thinking more along the lines of a stock TB, I forgot that some or maybe all the large TBs do not have a hole in them to start with.

I realize there a million set ups & 10 million ways to do things, so I guess my statement was way too generalized. I've just seen too many guys drilling huge holes in stock TBs to make smallish cams idle.

That's really only an aide, after a big cam swap, a tune is essential.

x2

I experienced this first hand. Drilling the additional hole in my tb after my cam swap made the car idle. It wasn't perfect but it did run. It was enough to make it run to go get it tuned. Now it idles perfect. For sure get it tuned!!!
