i just seen an article talking about removing the airfoil in the center of the MAF housing..is this a good idea or just wasted time?

Re: maf housing question
Basically that's porting your MAF. Some a4 cars it causes trouble with. I did it to mine and haven't had any problems. It's a hit or miss with some people. I'm sure some others will chime in with some real info.

Re: maf housing question
It would increase ultimate airflow. It will make
your MAF frequency/airflow scaling false (low)
and tell the PCM that you need less fuel and
less AT line pressure (lean, slip). Before you
start cutting, make sure you have the means to
fix the fix. Otherwise, welcome to "Why Does My
Car Ping and Run Slow?", contestant #8573!

Here's a fix if you have problems. I ported mine a while back and never had any serious problems, but my Ltrims are way too high(+18 to +23). I just did this mod and I am about to put the car back together...guess I'll see if it does the trick.
