Start off with a lid to let the car breathe better, then do LT headers and exhaust. Pacesetter headers are a good bang for the buck. I'd get some estimates from some shops and see if they might be cheaper to do a custom exhaust other than one of these cat-back packages.

Lid and catback are the most basic mods. I can really feel the difference between my friend's 01 l/cb M6 car and my stock 01 M6 car.

I don't like cutouts because the sound is unrefined and crappy, IMO.

yeah i think im going to roll with a magnaflow catback, and an SLP lid right away.
Im just trying to find out who the sponsor is for the magnaflow catback on here.
I hear its really cheap through him/her.

There is no one sponsor to order from. I have done business with many of them, and have found that they all have competitive pricing and good customer service. Do some shopping..

Magnaflow is usually associated with smooth tones. I loved my 4" magnaflow setup that I traded for duals like a moron. I vote a magnaflow setup of any kind even if it is just a muffler swap.

Lid and catback/cutout should be first mod. Look under your stock lid very restrictive. In 2001 w/ less than 2000 miles on my car went 12.90's with nittos and just lid w/ K&N, and cutout.

I would do a lid, ported tb, and a catback , I have a magnaflow. Then after those things I would do long tube headers.
That's my 2 cents worth.

With a cam, I don't think anything can beat it's sound, without a cam I can kind of agree with you

Magnaflow or Hooker dumdumdum.....I love a loud car, but out here in Nazifornia it is just a big sign for "Hey Officer pull me over and take me to the cleaners!"

I like my Hooker because I can cruise right next to a cop and not break a sweat. I also like the fact that when I get on it it sounds damn good and isn't raspy

If you go hooker and are stock it will be very quiet at first and then get a little louder as it breaks in. Then with headers and cam you won't believe how damn good it sounds You will turn heads in the parking lot when you crank it up at the mall

Magnaflow is a great exhaust. I was judging exhausts by clips on LS1Sounds, and it doesn't really give you a good idea of what Magnaflow sounds like. I thought the clips made it sound like **** when letting off the throttle, but it sounds great in person. I think the sound just wasn't being captured by the camera well.

It's also a great exhaust if you have bigger plans for your car. You can add Longtubes, ORY/Catted Y and a cam (which all make your car louder), and it still won't be unbearably loud. You'll probably want to go with a Catted Y to avoid drone, but I LOVE my Longtubes/ORY/Magnaflow with my heads and cam.

+1 GMMG LOVE mine ... and iv had mine both ways. with stock manifolds and stock y its very deep and sounds amazing. then with long tubes and ory you will fall in love all over again. but i guess i may be a little bias
