1998 tb on a 2002
like mvvette said, you can just change the throttle shaft, or you can put it on and just take some slack out of the cable. You can put a 98-99 on a 00-02 with taking slack out of the cable but cant put a 00-02 on a 98-99 or else the throttle blade will stay open.
sure, you dont have to, but it wont respond at its best,,the short swing or long swing cam goes off the tension,,therefore, if your using the wrong spring, your getting the wrong tension for you cam.

i have used each one on my rife and it is hard to notice at first . stock my ride would be a blue spring , when i used a brown or dark spring tb it would idle high when coming to a stop especially at high speed . the orange is about the same and works with 98-99 rides or at least better than the blue spring . now i run a 90 and it is all good with the newer design .
