I'm using Edelbrock atm, they have about another year or 2 left in them.. I'm praying for the chance that LG comes out with Fbody headers, but if he doesn't, I'll be going with kooks or qtp

I have heard nothing good between kooks and QTP, ended up going with Kooks because they were cheaper at the time and have loved them. I would stick with either of those two brands and just go with which ever is cheaper. But definitely go SS if money isn't an issue, might as well put the best stuff on.

Between my cars I have Pacesetter, FLP, and Jet Hot headers. I know several F-body owners with Kooks.

The pacesetters are on my '99 and with that car I took the approach of "good mods on a budget". It was a DD at the time and I could not go crazy on spending as I have more expensive cars plus a (primarily) track car to support. I bought many of the mod parts slightly used, negotiating good prices for parts in good condition.
Anyway, Pacesetters fell into that category and I purchased and installed them. The Y-pipe banged when letting in the clutch from a stop, so I got the Mufflex hanger - no luck - even after adjusting it several times. I eventually had to wedge a small pad of fireproof asbestos and the banging was cured. Other than that I have no regrets. The coating has held up pretty well and they sound good and seem to have delivered a noticeable power gain (didn't re-dyno the car... not yet).

Bottom line is that I'll repeat what others have already said: The Pacesetters are good bang for the buck, but if money is no object, get the Kooks.

I went with Kooks. They are the best. The cheap headers rust out and don't last very long.
If you plan on keeping your car for a long time buy the kooks.Even if you have to save a little longer to get them. You get what you pay for.If you don't have any money you could
buy the pacesetters. But they are basically junk. It's your car and what makes you happy is really the bottom line.

You're leaving out the part about the 1 7/8" primaries you had with your Kooks. My 1 3/4" primaries Kooks slid right in with no notching, look great and will last forever. My buddy has Pacesetters on his 98 Trans Am and they have been on for about a year and a half and already have really bad surface rust and some corrosion around the collector. +1 for Kooks.

When making posts like this it's important to tell the whole story. The kooks were 1 7/8th inch primary headers while the Pacesetters are 1 3/4".

You beat me to it, Sweetbone.

Also, I told you when you bought the big tube Kooks from me with the tubes being so big and you still being on stock K you will need to notch to get them to fit. I also told you that the engine will most likely need to be lifted off the motor mount to get them to install easy.

they're in a totally different class. pacesetters are budget headers, but they perform very well for the price. kooks will last forever and yeild a little more power, but are expensive. if you have the money, go kooks, if not, go pacesetter. now my friend has had a set of pacesetters for about 2 years and his shows barely any rust, i think it depends on where you live. down here it doesn't snow so we dont have to worry about salt on the roads. however, i'd go with the new XS headers over anything on the market right now. they're stainless so they'll last forever and the new design is really nice and their only $500 with free shipping.

how about the new tsp headers? aren't they stainless too? so wouldn't they last awhile? and they're quite a bit less, what makes kooks better?

Its all in the design, fitment, quality of materials, weld quality, etc. Yes they all do pretty much the same thing, but in this case the if you want the best u can but it puts a hole in your wallet but is well worth it.

I wanted Kooks, but bought Pacesetters. I'm happy with them. If I ever built another F-body I'll buy the Kooks to try them out. My whole header back exhaust was cheaper than buying just the Kooks headers.

What about American Racing headers? A buddy just got them for his car and says they will perform better than the Kooks, and are also stainless. The price for them seems to be about the same as the Kooks.

Anyone have anymore info on those?

I know the ARs have been getting a ton of good reviews lately from what I have read in other exhaust threads. From what I have heard they are right in there with the Kooks and QTP according to some people and some say better even.

Mine went on easy and tuck way up. Ground clearance on the Y is the best I have seen. They also have a High Velocity Merge Collector which is extra $$ on the Kooks but standard on the QTP's. ARH is the only one of the 3 with a velocity spike in the collector though. It is beautiful I will post some pics next week. Search QTP and you will find many leaky weld issues, customer service issues and a crappy fitting Y. They are a great power making design though. If I did not get ARH I would have gone Kooks.

I have already seen my buddies AMH's and they do look nice. I already ordered the Kooks, but wanted to see what people thought about the AMH's.

Consider American racing's if you plan on going stainless. Their quality is awesome! I read they have a better collector than kooks, which would result in more power, not much

The only complaint my buddy has was that the American Racing headers were really close to his starter once installed. So close he ended up heat wrapping the starter just to be safe. Other than that, he loves them so far (he has not yet started the car though).
