Default Pacesetters or Kooks?

What are the pro's and cons of each? I have heard Kooks will yeild the most power, and don't have a coating but will last forever, but I am guessing they are more expensive.

What are the facts? How much do each cost? Which will yeild more power in a 1 3/4 LT?

Which one should I go with?

Dude search this topic, it's been beaten to death.

One is stainless, one isn't. One will last forever, one won't. One is more expensive, one is cheaper. The kooks MIGHT yield slightly more power, but not a ton. It's your call. Do you want decent or the best? How much money do you have to spend?

And again, try searching it, you'll get more info that you know what to do with......

I did a search but didn't find the "specific" resutls I was looking for. I'm sure 80+% of the questions asked on the board right now could all be answered by just trying "a search" but I wanted specific results to the question I asked.

Price isn't really a big issue right now, as I'd just like to find the specific info on each. From what I have found the Kooks being stainless run about $850 or so, where as I can get ceramic coated Pacesetters for around $500. Does this sound accurate?

I have Hooker LT with 6 year old ceramic coating in my 95 Z28 in my sig, and the headers already look like crap and are slowly showing signs of corrosion. From that alone I am leaning towards the Kooks, but wanted more info before I made my decision.

kooks for sure man.... but pacesetter's are known for the best bang for buck... when i had my stock motor i loved my hookers... they are the in-between lt header

edit: if money isn't an issue, then definately go kooks; best header on the market. i believe they run about 1000 dollars however...

QTP Long tubes > kooks
They sound good and yeild great power, and the customer service is top notch. The headers last long, and the tubes are all pretty equal in length which cuts down turbulence which allows more flow.

No question Kooks or QTP. They are the same Grott design and as long as you have a HFMC you will be maximizing velocity and scaveging. Look in the external engine section, but Pacesetters would be my choice for a drag only car that never saw the show or the elements.

Kooks makes the best headers in the business IMO. There is no substitute for them.
They are pricey, but you get what you pay for.

No complaints with my pacesetters here. I had a set of kooks and couldnt get them to fit for anything, then I found out I needed to notch my K member and this and that, so I bought a set of Pacesetters, and they slid right in, and look great coated, and are cheap too.

KOOKS! Got my set for $770 shipped. They tuck up nice and were easy to install. FWIW, they also fit up perfectly with TSP True Duals. Do it right the first time and be done with it.

Bought mine in 2006 from Speed Engineering (sponsor on here). They had the lowest price at the time and they were offering free shipping, so I jumped on it. Not sure what they are going for now but just be patient and do some shopping around, you'll find a good deal. 2 years later and they still look brand new. Kooks are awesome headers and are worth every penny. Good luck.

Best I could find was Bob at EPP and it was $808 for the Kooks. Doubt I'll find them cheeper than that, but if anyone knows of anyplace LET ME KNOW.

Will probably end up going Kooks for the longevity.

You want the best, get Kooks. They fit right the first time, and ground clearance is better than stock equipment. Try Maryland Speed.

Agreed, Pacesetters are junk IMO. Save, and get the Kooks.

Price of kooks/stainless/everything has gone up in the past 2 years (just take a look at Corsa exhaust ). You'll be lucky to find them for 770 shipped NEW again... IMO.

Oh and check SDPC...

Depends totally on your budget. I went with coated Pacesetters, no regrets. They were affordable and made my car feel like a whole new animal when I first put them on. If you have the money, I'd say go with the Kooks. I'd also look into those new LPP stainless headers with that nice new merge they have. If I didn't already have the Pacesetters I'd probably pick up a pair of them LPP's.

I went with pacesetter and they are great, the coating looks great and they work well and fitment was great, Great ground clearance as well. If you got money to blow get kooks, if you want something just as good go with pacesetter Just my .02
