engine reving out of control
I just got back from Iraq and had my buddy start my car every month for me. I went to drive it the other day and the motor is reving up to 3k on its own and is slowy working its way back down to 900. I already checked the TB and cables, replaced the TPS and checked it for leaks around the intake manifold. Got any ideas?

I dont hear any vacume leak. I tried the TPS reset but it didnt work. Has anyone had the same problem? Im totally stumped here. I unplugged the TPS while it was running and the engines RPM's dropped like normal. I guess its possible that I bought a brand new TPS thats bad. Im digging in the wiring next. Anyone got suggestions?

Could be a dry rotted hose of some sort. Maybe not enough to make a lot of noise, but enough to cause what you are experiencing. Just a thought for a vehicle that has been sitting for some time.

Did your friend add any miles to the car ?
Sounds like a intake leak , unhooked hose that or it is in the throttle body . Make sure the the hose is on the throttle body on the top left side . may want to take the throttle body off and check it . There is a little washer , ring under the tps switch that is on the TB and sometimes they hit . It is not needed if you want to take it apart . Last check the slack in the throttle cable as it can be adjusted . If it is too tight it can cause this .
