I got a free kit when I got my TB ported. Here's what it looks like on mine:

Not the prettiest thing, but I can't argue with the price.

Now that winter's coming, who is removing their TB bypass? I'm curious if it's really necessary to remove the TB bypass in the winter. It hardly ever drops below 15 degrees where I'm at on even the coldest mornings.

From my understanding GM built that feature in there just to keep the TB warm if temps go below Zero and you are driving constantly in thos temperatures, more or less a feature to be used in canada or the northern parts of the US that see below zero conditions. If you car is in the garage during these months then not a big deal. Just there to heat up the air, but who wants hot air... pshshsh.

Did this on my grand am serisouly was easy on that car too, can't wait till i get my real car being an LS1 and doing this mod.

yeah i've heard about the winter thing and possibly having the tb blade stick. i'd like some feedback from anyone who's done this mod and driven in below freezing/below zero temps. i live in NY and it can easily get into the teens during the winter or lower and i need my dd car.

tb blade sticking? how would it manage to do that when underhood temps are going to be a min of 50? The only way I could see it hapening is at start up or before your motor comes up to temp. All the time peopl talk about heat soak o aluminum intakes but there is a fear of a tb blade freezing shut how? metal will shrink / expand with head but how much ? certainly not enuff for it to sieze on the blade. if the springs are your concern I am unable to see a cold spring preventing the tb blade to close and even if it did once the engine comes to temp I cannot see or believe under hood temps would be low enuff to freeze. I dunno please someone if you have proof show me and explain the error of my ways I would like to lear something new.

i dunno man, but i swear that like 2 years ago when i first was hearing about this mod some guy from buffalo NY (where it gets below zero for most of the winter) posted about doing this mod in the summer and then in the winter the gas pedal got stuck down in his car when he was pulling out of his driveway and he ended up slamming into a snowbank across the street. so since then i basically decided it's not worth it for at most a 1-2 hp gain if i even have a 1/100 risk of doing the same.
