havent touched it, but when i get around to getting a larger intake manifold, im debating going with a larger lid/maf to reduce restriction in the flow path

That's what I did.
I ran some composite MAF ends and it yielded some nice SOTP gains, especially low end but it idled like crap. Put the stocker back in sans screen.
That's on my 02, my old 99 loved them.

SD here, runs great. Takes a little longer to tune over the MAF.

I'm running a descreened stocker right now. When the heads go on in a few months, I'll be dumping the maf and going SD!

GMS 85mm maf, I paid $10 for it, and then tuned it to get the airfuel correct.

no idea of gains, my stocker was messed up, so i replaced it. (I do have a new stocker I want to test with, to see if there was any gains on the gms piece (assuming no))

Good advice there! Messing with the maf usually throws off a lot of the tables in the tune.

I have the 85mm truck maf with a corresponding tune. Main reason was the desire to have the IAT incorporated with the MAF. Also if I end up stepping up to a FAST intake, I would like to not have any flow restrictions in the intake tract.

i remember reading things about automatics having shifting issues once you took the screen out, manuals were fine tho. i figured i have an auto im not even gonna mess with it.

however my dad has a 98 z28 with a descreened stock maf and auto, and hes got no problems with it.

so i dont know what would happen, i just took the safe route and left it alone

I have read so many forums about the MAF's and so many ppl having or had problems with them after missing with them. I dont think it's worth the headaches so i agree take the safe route and leave it alone
