Compressor seized, what should I replace?
Anyway, at some point the a/c gradually blew less and less cold over a couple days until it was blowing warm air. I assumed it was low on refrigerant and tried to add some, which didn't work because the guage said it wasn't low.
The next day, if I tried turning the a/c on, it would stall out the car. The compressor seized completly, anything that would turn the compressor on, would lock the pulley and it wouldn't turn. I finally decided to cut the belt, since it has it's seperate, and in case I wanted the air through the defroster vents that following winter.
So, I know I need a new compressor, but should anything else be replaced? Can I just swap in a new compressor and belt, and take to be serviced and have the shop vacuum out the lines and add refrigerant?
