Terrible noise after intake install... im stumped
The project is a 2000 z28, 35k miles, just installed a fast 78mm and deleted the entire egr and air system, still has the stock exhaust manifolds. I just put the cheap caps on the exhaust manifolds and the first startup i noticed a terrible noise from inside the car. It almost sounds like a diesel ticking. It is intermitent. I never know when it will make it. Any help is appreciated...

Sounds like there could be an intake manifold leak. Lean bank one could be either an intake manifold gasket leak or an injector "o"-ring leak in bank one. Might also be that the EGR opening in the header on bank 1 is leaking & the air is leaning out the reading on the bank one O2 sensor.

My QTP long tubes should be here tomorow. The ones without the provisions for EGR and AIR. Do you think this will clear up both issues? the noise and the code?

Probably. It's a good place to start. If it's an injector "o"-ring or intake runner gasket, then, no. Check to make sure there isn't a torn injector "o"-ring & that the intake is sealed @ each runner while you wait for the headers, just to be sure.
