I have had my QTEC under rear seat for 6 years or so..with and without a turndown...sounds better with a turndown...no problems with heat or anything else.

Old thread I know, But is there anyway to have a manuel cutout with a turndown?
Also what size is needed if i still have stock cb, 2.5'' or 3"?

Flange your tundown (Exhaust shop could make you one very cheap) and bolt it in place of the plate-
