Default LS1's 98-00 vs. 01-02

I have heard there is a difference in the 98 to 00 LS1s towards the 01 and 02 Ls1 motors. What is the difference in the 2??

There is actually quite a few things different, between them. 01 and up have the ls6 intake, they have a different cam from the the lq9 truck motors to give better low end torque and better emmissions, slightly bigger injectors i think, there is no egr, the throttle body's are different thats all i can think of for now, im sure someone will add other differences if there are any.

98/99's have the worst flowing heads (853's)
i think 98, 99's and 2000's have bigger cams than the 01/02's
TB's are different 98/99 have a differnt sized TB cam..
98/99/2000 have LS1 intakes stock,,01/02's came with LS6 intakes
rims!

To the best of my knowledge... 243 heads didn't even exist until 2001 (when they were introduced on the Corvette Z06) and they were never put on f-bodies. Wouldn't suprise me if a couple 01-02 f-bodies/base y-bodies got them, since GM seemed to use LS6 parts whenever they ran short on LS1 parts.

98 - 28 lb injectors, LS1 intake, poop heads, EGR/AIR

99 - 26 lb injectors, LS1 intake, EGR/AIR

00 - 26 lb injectors, LS1 intake, AIR/Revised EGR, revised exhaust manifolds

01 - 28 lb injectors, LS6 intake, AIR only, a couple had LS6 blocks, smaller cam, upgraded hydraulics (M6 only), revised exhaust manifolds and MAF sensor

02 - 28 lb injectors, LS6 intake, AIR only, 10% had LS6 blocks, smaller cam, upgraded hydraulics (M6 only), revised exhaust manifolds and MAF sensor

That's the best I can do off the top of my head. I could be off on a couple things, but I think that's pretty accurate.

Basically, 98s got screw on heads and intake, 99-00s got screw on intake and injectors, and 01-02 got screwed on the cam. 01-02s always put down the best dyno numbers stock.
