Default Hole in Header..... WTF

So I was driving home the other night. I did a little WOT punch in first and I heard a slight pop. My car immediately started choking and sounded like ****. I thought it was possibly a bent valve, or bent pushrod. However, how could that be since the heads are brand new and the pushrods are hardened. Hmmmmm...

After later observation a friend and I examined a quarter sized hole in the passenger side header right where it bolts up to the head second to last cylinder on the passenger side which I think. is cylinder 6.

They are 1 3/4 Pacesetters Ceramic coated. I bought them about 1.5-2 years ago from Texas-Speed.

Oil pressure is perfect, fuel pressure is perfect. Car idles just fine it just sounds more like a sewing machine since I can hear all the valve movement.

Has anybody ever had this happen?

have pacesetters for a while and they have been great. never heard of anything like this happening. sure something didnt shoot out of the block and hit the headers to cause the hole?

Could have just been a bunk header. Repairing it should be cheap and easy though, no worries.

PS: After searching, I just found that apparently this isn't as uncommon as you would think . Search for titles "hole header" and you'll find numerous people that have blown holes in their headers.

if you used block off plates on your headers, I have heard that from the vibrations of the engine and constant movement cause that air provision on the headers to rip out. I talked to the guys at American Racing Headers and that is what he told me

is this where the little divit is for the pacesetter logo, happened to me, and i have a nice way to fix it....

i took a quarter....high temp spray and header wrap *cheap stuff that will shrivel up* just place the quarter in the whole, WRAP IT TIGHT!!!! and go worry free until you go turbo and replace the headers

worked for me, and never popped off and sealed it

u would be surprised on how much a quarter can take...its melting point is beyond 1500-2000 degrees haha
