Depends on how much of the work you can do yourself.
I would say the free mods(remove ram air baffles, port MAF ends, descreen if you feel ok with it, bumpstop mod, throttle body coolant bypass, ect. maybe even port your own throttle body)
After that some uncoated pacesetters(coated would be better but cost more), DRs, look into a higher stall TC maybe.LS6 intake would be good.

10. Cam Swap
11. Heads
12. Big Motor
13. Big Blower/Turbo
14. Lots of Nitrous
15. Bigger Motor

Torque converter!!! I wish I would have bought my converter sooner. It's a must for A4, but as far as cheap power nitrous is the answer. The only prob is a Yank, Vig, etc converter are around $600+, plus install if your not mechanically inclined. Long tube headers sounds sick and aren't too hard to install but they're not super easy either. Full intake, exhaust, and a LS6 intake would be a great start.

I Found good used parts for cheap they were almost new and look perfect.
I bought stainless coated lt, cats and ypipe slp loudmouth (still had the stickers on the piping) and an slp flowpac (with 2 K&N filters for what its worth) for under $900
It looks, sounds and feels awesome. I plan on buying the converter later after I am done with the heads, cam, tune and gears. mainly to help from having to change out converters for different setups. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3022039 check it out
