Default FAST on 5.3?

i have a 2000 silverado 5.3 and know that it is in an lsx based engine and was wondering if i can bolt basically most ls1 parts on it such as heads, cam, etc. on it. the one thing i would like to change would be to put a fast intake/tb combo. so i guess my question is can you do this and do you have to change anything if this is possible. thanks guys

from what i have read you might want to get heads/cam first. i dont think it would do anything for a stock motor. but i am 95% sure it will bolt up. maybe the 78mm will work good on a stock 5.3?

yea i've been looking in the head/cam swap first cause the fast would prolly do no good on a stock setup. so does anyone have any kind of suggestions on what kind of head/cam would be good on a 5.3, i seen a set of afr heads on here for sale that were at a good price just don't really know what kind of cam to put and whether i have to change rocker arms, lifters, pushrods, etc. my moter has 115k miles on it and i'm just going to start using it as a weekend/play vehicle cause i just can't afford to drive it all the time and want something to have fun with

well my plan is to leave it n/a cause i really don't want to spend the money forging the roatating assemble to make it anything but n/a. speaking of that how much hp can a stock bottom end on a 5.3 handle. i'm just looking to have a truck with a lot of power to have fun with.

well that answers that question, i have nothing to worry about on the bottom end. so do you think if i get a good head/cam combo i will be able to run the fast 90/90 or should i go with the 78. and if anybody has any suggestions on which cam/head feel free to throw them out there

As stated before, the FAST will need a healthy top end to see decent results on a 5.3L

And keep in mind that if you switch over to an LS6 or FAST intake, you will need to get an F-body accessory drive setup. The intakes will not clear a truck accessory drive.

damn...i'm getting excited about doing this now. so is a head/cam swap hard to do on one of these motors. i'm only 20 and don't know if i want to take on this task i mean i have worked on motors before but they were all older and not sure if i want to risk messing something this expensive up. and i live in west virginia and there isn't really many motor places around here

I grew up working on carbed SBCs. That being said, I like working on the LS1 more. Something as simple as the newer gasket designs they use make working on them much easier. H/C swaps on the trucks are cake... lots of room!
