Use gm gaskets.

But ive heard a similar sound in mine when i lug it to get up a hill or pass someone, my noise is pinging though. Not a leak

This had nothing to do with the header gaskets. The leak was where the driver header and y-pipe connected. I welded that bitch and the noise disappeared.
